So you know that Financial Advisors and Wealth Advisors can help you with a financial plan. But what is that? Often, Wealth Advisors seem mysterious to clients who have never worked with one before, or even people who have worked with Wealth Advisors don’t fully grasp the value that they bring.
When you’re ready to hire a Wealth Advisor for the first time, or hire a new Wealth Advisor, here are some reasonable expectations you may want to consider:
Experience –
Somebody who has been in your shoes and worked with others that may be reaching for similar goals or trying to knock down the same barriers.
Ideas –
Your Advisor should be able to present different ways to solve a problem. Intrinsic motivations are not the same for everybody, so solutions should not all be identical.
Honesty –
It’s not always easy, but you should expect that your Advisor will tell you what you NEED to hear, not just what you WANT to hear.
Accountability –
It’s not enough to have conversations without action. Accountability works both ways. You should expect your Advisor to hold you accountable to what’s important for your success, and you should be able to hold your Advisor accountable for their role.
Care –
It’s business, but you should expect your Advisor to genuinely care about you, your family, and your success.
Hiring a Wealth Advisor can be advantageous no matter where you are in life. If you are ready to have the conversation to determine if it’s the right thing for you, keep the above expectations in mind and let that be your guide.
